CNC Programmer

Job Description

Develop accurate and efficient CNC machining code path by generating part & stock models in the CAD/CAM system.


1st Shift


Models part geometry and stock as needed from engineering drawings and/or electronic data provided by manufacturing engineers.
Develop cutter path according to routed instructions, CNC strategy forms and GTC Standards for Machining.
Post processes programmed cutter path to the appropriate CNC machine.
Creates operator set-up sheets, tool lists, and readouts and maintains files according to GTC quality standards.
Graphically verifies work and spotchecks G-code in order to ensure proper output.


Knowledge of CNC equipment, manufacturing and machining processes with a focus on Turning (lathes/VTL).
Understanding of ANSI Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
3 years' experience with solid model based programming software in a job shop environment, preferably with Unigraphics (NX).
Familiar with the operation and coding of Fanuc, Siemens and Heidenhain CNC controls.
Associates degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent related experience in a contract manufacturing job shop.
Strong 3D visualization skills.
Capable of working closely with manufacturing and engineering/strategy.
